ABOUT GDS ENGINE ROOM SIMULATOR (ERS) CALLED SERS™
A flexible ERS to meet your training needs
GDS Engine Room Simulator, SERS™, consists of more than 50 panels. These panels can be grouped and displayed in distributed panels for a team training or they can all be displayed in one workstation for an individual lab study. One software is configurable for instructor station, brifieng/debriefing room, student workstations in a laboratory with instructor station, or distributed system panels installed to engine control room, engine room, and instructor room building sections.
Highlights of the GDS SERS™
- Certified for use in training and education of marine engineering cadets.
- Certified by ClassNK, a Japanese Classification Society. Class NK is an official member of IACS.
- Certification includes IMO STCW 2010 (with Manila Amendments)
- Certification type is Full Mission (Class A) type approval.
- Certification includes IMO Model Course 2.07 (2017 Edition).
- Applicable for Remote (Online) Training.
- Provides two types of mostly used engine models: 1) Conventional Type (MAN MC-C 70S) and Electronically Injected and Computer Controlled Engine (MAN ME-C 70S), both are 2-Cylce Long Stroke Marine Main Diesel Engines.
- Provides two ship models: Container Ship and a Liquid Cargo Ship.
- Simulates all engine room machinery and systems with more than 50 GUI Panels.
- Satisfies the High Voltage Training requirements.
- Includes Environmental Pollution modules, such as Ballast Water Treamen, Oily Water Separator, ME Denoxification System, and others.
- Includes Energy Efficiency modules. Students can compare theoretical studies against the simulator instances using Sunken Diagrams.
- Includes engine performance monitoring tools. Students are able to compare the current values againt the baselined ship’s navigation test as well as main engine’s factory test data. The baselined test data are presented within the software to the students with graphs. This our unique approach is to actually duplicate the real world work environment of wachkeeping engineers checking the parameters against the user manuals and engine books with test data.
- Provides a realistic environment for emergency operations with all required systems.
GDS Quality Management System (GDS-QMS)
GDS Engineering has the knowledge, personnel, and infrastructure and has implemented many international projects. GDS has its own Project Management System (GDS-PMS) as well as Quality Management System (GDS-QMS) that help produce necessary tools templates for use in a specific project and for quality management including risk-based management methods. With these, quality products are ensured to the end users.

SERS™ 2D & 3D Simulations
GDS SERS™ has a BIG VIEW of over 50 detailed GUI Panels that are interfaced using large (e.g, 65-inch) touchscreen monitors. The GUI Panels can be distributed to four or more panels and that is configurable in accordance with your team training objectives.

Laboratory Training
GDS SERS™ provides desktop version of the simulator for students interactively study the assigned exercises for both Operational Lvel and Management Level training objectives. We provide the Workbooks and all associaed in-class material for training, i.e. in view of the IMO Model Course 2.07.

3D Simulations
GDS SERS™ provides 3D interactive simulations syncronized with the 2D operations. This effort of the SERS™ is ongoing with new enhancements.
Student training
Team Training Using Dektop Version: SERS4TEAM™
GDS SERS™ also provides a simplified solution for cost effectiveness for your Engine Room Resource management Training. A team of four, assigned with their own roles and responsibilities execute the training exercises collaboratively. This simulator version is called SERS4TEAM™
